This website was established in 2011 by Annie White, while a PhD student in Plant & Soil Sciences at the University of Vermont. The website was created to share information about her research on improving plant selection for pollinator habitat restoration in the Northeast. More specifically, Annie studied if native cultivars are ecologically equivalent substitutes for “true” native species in terms of attracting and supporting beneficial pollinators.
Annie White, ASLA, PhD, is now the Owner of NECTAR Landscape Design Studio & Consulting in Burlington, Vermont. She has continued to conduct research on native cultivars and also promotes pollinator friendly landscaping practices in all her design work.
